Summer School “Framing solutions and drivers for change?” 2023
Focus Topic: SDG’s
An interdisciplinary summer course about the UN Sustainable Development Goals in research and practice
Roskilde University offers a Summer School from 14th to 25th August 2023.
In a world of different colliding crises, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a framework and platform from which solutions and changes can be developed. This two-week summer course will introduce and discuss the SDGs in theory and practice from an interdisciplinary, research-based and critical perspective. We will question how these goals can act as drives for change, social innovation and sustainability – locally, nationally and globally.
Participants will acquire skills in analyzing, comparing and assessing selected issues and methods to advance solutions for the SDG framework; conceptualize relevant theories and contextualize complex spatial problems within the UN SDGs; and analyze application of the SDGs in different contexts including in governance.
The course includes both lectures, debate sessions, curated and supervised workshops, field and company visits, and panel debates with stakeholders and actors working with the SDGs in the public, non-governmental and private sectors. Hosted and designed by Roskilde University, the course is developed in collaboration with the Critical Edge Alliance and will include guest lectures delivered by professors from partner universities within the Alliance.
