ERUA Spring school “European capitals of psychoanalysis: Paris” 26 April – 1 May 2024, Paris

Do you want to meet in person Julia Kristeva, a legendary figure of psychoanalysis and semiotics, and learn more about the history of psychoanalysis in France? What about exploring Freud and Lacan’s fascinating theories, together with some of the major professors from Paris 8 University, and visiting some of the most remarkable places associated with psychoanalysis in Paris?
Along with our partners from Paris 8 University, we are launching a Spring school dedicated to the European capitals of psychoanalysis, starting with Paris. The school will be led by Prof. Svetlozar Vassilev, a scholar of the history of psychoanalysis at NBU and a psychotherapist, and Dr. Albena Stambolova, a psychotherapist and a literary author. The school includes a seminar with Julia Kristeva hosted by the Bulgarian Cultural Institute in Paris, lectures on Lacan led by professors from Paris 8 University, where Jaques Lacan himself taught, visits to Parisian hospitals where Lacan worked, as well as a tour of the sites related to the history of psychoanalysis and its impact on French culture – from literature and theater to cinema.

We are looking for 14 BA, MA, or PhD students from all ERUA universities interested in the history and theory of psychoanalysis, therapeutic practices, and cultural dimensions of psychology.
