ERUA students at the European Student Assembly 2023

During this year’s #ESA edition, six students from every ERUA member university with a common interest in debating the #future of #Europe were selected to participate in 4 of the debating panels оf the Assembly.

Together with their panel teams during the three days of Assembly at the European Parliament, the selected ERUA students were actively finalising #policy #recommendations with concrete propositions.

  • Theodora from Πανεπιστήμιο Αιγαίου and Tya from Roskilde Universitet – RUCworked on reforming the current European food system so that it is capable of facing the numerous current threats in front of it in Panel 4 ‘The Taste of Europe: Improving the Farm to Fork Plan’;
  • Tin from @Roskilde Universitet – RUC and Calvin from Universität Konstanzdebated on the need for a new, ambitious EU security policy proposal aiming to position the EU in an increasingly complex world in Panel 7 ‘Security and Defence Integration to Confront Global Challenges;
  • Nathan from Université Paris VIII Vincennes – Saint-Denis was engaged with the topic of creating cities that fulfil the needs of their inhabitants and interact with their environment in a way that does not endanger the lives of future generations in Panel 8 ‘Cities of the future: How could sustainable cities contribute in European autonomy and people welfare?’;
  • Vanina from New Bulgarian University

worked on formulating actions for a more socially responsible, inclusive, and sustainable higher education system in the EU that provides equal opportunities for all students in Panel 9 ‘Excellence versus inclusion? How can European higher education institutions offer more inclusive access to skills and knowledge?’

 

Students finalised their recommendations during the three days spent at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. They eventually presented 79 Recommendations (4 rejected) to the Assembly and voted on them individually. The final political recommendations will be disseminated among relevant stakeholders, policymakers, and educational institutions.
